Quality goods. Real savings. Real neighbors.
Affordable second-hand clothing, shoes, and home goods — making everyday life more economical, more pleasant, and more meaningful for our mountain communities.
What We're Building
Quality second-hand clothing, shoes, and household goods at prices that make a genuine difference — easy to find, easy to afford, right here in the community.
We envision a future where adults could attend literacy or GED classes right here — because learning should never have an expiration date, no matter your season of life.
A future goal: workshops and coaching on budgeting and financial recovery — practical tools for building a more stable, dignified future for families across our mountain communities.
Looking ahead, we hope to host addiction recovery programs, grief groups, nutrition classes, and Diabetes Undone workshops — because whole-person healing matters in these mountains.
Our Why
Neighbors in this part of the world have always looked out for each other. They share what they can, lift when someone stumbles, and celebrate together when hope returns.
Yet the needs of these mountain communities remain real and urgent. Families are struggling. Jobs are scarce. Many carry daily burdens of poverty, isolation, and loss — and our communities have faced tremendous challenges: flooding, sudden loss, and hardships that no family should face alone.
"A place not just to shop — but a place to heal, to grow, and to help one another."
The $aving Place was born from a conviction that these mountains deserve more than sympathy. They deserve a place — a real, physical gathering point — where restoration is possible and no neighbor is left to figure it out alone.
Be Part of the DreamFamilies facing sudden crisis — fire, medical emergency, flood — can receive a stated amount of goods free, restoring dignity when it matters most.
A registration form inside The $aving Place will give our neighbors opportunity to sign up for the various life-enhancing options we offer. Their voices will determine which programs we launch first, because The $aving Place exists to meet the needs of the community.
Grounded in Konnarock and the surrounding valleys — serving families across Green Cove, Whitetop, Chilhowie, Saltville, Damascus, Troutdale, and every road in between.
